Well I started Ethan on dairy again and about a week later, he started having intestinal problems again. I bought some Lactaid milk to see if that helps. He also has a rash so he is definitely allergic to something. We’ll have to see the doctor and find out what it is.
My family was in town for Thanksgiving and George’s family came over as well. Ethan loved having all the attention but was quite over stimulated. He slept quite well as a result. He didn’t seem to like the Thanksgiving fare and I ended up giving him lunchmeat instead. In the evening we went to a friends house to get his haircut. I had been putting it off because I was afraid he would freak out or jump off the chair so I hadn’t gotten his hair cut yet. Our friend Judy’s daughter is a hair stylist and was in town for the holiday so we went to their house to have his haircut. I figured that being in a familiar environment would help. He did great! He sat still and almost seemed soothed by it. He looks like a little boy now.
The most expensive toy we have bought Ethan was an antique sideboard we bought to hold the slot machine. Ever since we bought it he has played with it. I had great plans to store items in the bottom cabinets but Ethan has decided it is his toy. He loves to open and close the doors, store toys in it and most recently, to climb in and out of it.
Ethan’s tummy is feeling better. Now we just have to experiment with milk again to see what happens. My parents are coming to town tonight. They haven’t seen him since he was a month old. My in-laws are coming on Wednesday. Ethan should get his share of attention to last for a while.
My mother-in-law came to visit to watch Ethan while I tried on bridesmaids dresses at David’s bridal. Ethan enjoyed running around the store and parading in front of all the mirrors. Future model perhaps? I think he is now saying his first real word (he has a few made up words to refer to objects). He has been referring to banana as “ah-na.” I’ve wondered what his first word will be and there it is. Now he just needs to say mommy and daddy and we are set.
Poor Ethan has been having the “d” word the past few days. I have suspected he may have an allergy to milk as he has been having problems since he started on whole milk but the doctor’s office says it could just be a stomach virus. So he is on the bananas, rice, applesauce, toast diet until he gets better and then we’ll try milk again. I hope he doesn’t have an allergy but it may explain a lot. Since allergies run in the family it is certainly likely.
