Zoo

We went to the zoo today with a couple of friends. It wasn’t quite what I was expecting. What happened to the zoos of my youth with the pandas, elephants and zebras. Our local zoo is more of an aviary. Ethan had some difficulty seeing some of the animals that were in the trees and didn’t seem to follow my finger pointing. Some of the larger birds he pointed at and made noises at. I know he enjoyed being outside with his friends Lilly and Maddie.

Ethan’s pile of books Posted by Picasa

Ethan’s new thing is to relocate items to different places. He likes to take all his sippy cups out of the drawer and put them either in another drawer or in another piece of furniture. He also likes to put his spoons places around the house. His newest trick is to pile his toys in the bathroom sink. I went to wash my hands the other day and there was a pile of books in the sink. He is also learning how to climb on things, we’ve only had one fall so far.

Unwrapping presents Posted by Picasa

We had a nice Christmas with George’s family. Ethan was a little underwhelmed or maybe he was overwhelmed that demonstrated as underwhelmed. He enjoyed opening the presents but wasn’t extremely excited or anything. He more enjoyed following the cats around the house than playing with his new toys. Now we have to find space in the house for all his loot!

This morning after running errands I was trying to get stuff out of the car while holding onto Ethan’s hand so he wouldn’t run off (the garage is a mine field of danger and earlier in the morning as I was opening the door to get him into his car seat he ran off down the driveway). After I grabbed my stuff I closed the car door not realizing that Ethan’s head was in the way. The door hit him in the front of his head and he began screaming. His face was red from screaming and the bump was large and white about the size of a quarter. He wouldn’t let me put ice on it. I started crying because I felt so bad and guilty. He started crying louder because I was crying. What a morning. He’s okay though, just a big bump. This afternoon after his nap we had to head to a bridal shop in West Palm (about 45 min. away) to exchange a dress for a wedding I’m in. He did great on the ride down because it was snack time. We went in for five minutes to do the exchange and then headed back home. He cried all the way home. Looking forward to the long drive to Sebring for Christmas. Good thing George will be with me.
