Hanging out with daddy. Posted by Picasa

The tide was coming back in so we lost our sand bar. No trouble just sit back and relax! Posted by Picasa

George took the day off so we could hang out. We went boating and hung out on a sand bar in the river. Ethan had a great time running around on the sand, chasing birds, and splashing in the water.

Ethan went to his first dentist appointment today. I wasn’t sure how he would handle the exam but he laid there quietly through the whole thing. He also was cooperative for an x-ray (he has one tooth in front that hasn’t come in and they were concerned that maybe it didn’t exist). He especially enjoyed picking out toys at the end.

This morning as I was getting dressed for church, Ethan was playing in our room. I have not been quite as vigilant about safety issues as he has gotten older because he seems to know what he can and can’t do around the house. Well I learned my lesson on that one because as I was getting clothes out of my closet, I heard the sound of glass breaking. I came out to find Ethan on the floor with a large picture frame (that I had propped against the wall waiting to hang up) with the glass broken and he was playing with the glass. Blood was running down his fingers and getting everywhere. I freaked out, a usual response on my part, but eventually the blood stopped and I realized he was okay. He didn’t seem to understand what the big deal was. Go figure.

Well today was the last day of swimming. Ethan has been feeling better this week, thankfully. The first three days of swimming he cried. The second day when we arrived he threw himself on the ground and screamed. By yesterday he was ready and walked right to the pool. Today I joined him in the pool to learn the commands and lessons he had learned. He had become attached to his instructor and wanted to swim with her rather than me. Amazingly he can swim. He’s kind of a lazy swimmer however and needs to be constantly reminded to kick. I think he’ll improve with more practice.

This week starts Ethan’s intense week of daily swimming lessons. Though he’s been in Red Cross swimming classes regularly for the past year-he hasn’t learned anything. This class is supposed to actually teach him to swim. He’s feeling somewhat better though he has turned into a hellion from the medication. He does absolutely everything he is not supposed to do and is so hyper, he can’t even sit still to eat. So I was concerned about him being in lessons today but it cost so much and you can’t get your money back that I figured I would take him anyway. They have the parents go inside during the lesson but I looked out the window and could tell that he was fussing with her but she told me that overall he did well. So hopefully he’ll learn something this week.

We’ve had three nights of Ethan coughing most of the night, meaning no sleep for me. He decided that he was tired of not sleeping so he wanted to get up at 5am this morning and start his day. I have a headache that won’t go away.

We went to the doctor’s this morning. Ethan was up all last night coughing, his cough sounds like he is going to throw up. Anyway, I guess he caught something else and has an upper respiratory infection. So he’s back on the nebulizer with Albuterol and Pulmicort. We don’t like Albuterol but he’s handling better than he has before. Now he’s just hyper.

Ethan stopped the croup cough about ten days ago. His nose has been running ever since. This morning he woke up with a horrible cough. Not quite croupy but horrible none the less. I’m not sure if maybe the croup may have triggered asthma again or what. It’s so frustrating that he is sick every other week.
