We went to George’s mom’s for Christmas. Ethan had a blast. A family friend was in town from California as well as George’s sister and her husband. Ethan loved helping his Aunt Shanna hand out presents. His grandparents somehow managed to get him a Tickle Me Elmo which I think the adults enjoyed watching more than he. He coughed for a couple of hours each night we were there and his congestion had been going on for more than two weeks now so I took him to a local pediatrician the day after Christmas and found out he had a sinus infection. We left him in the good hands of his grandma and left for our anniversary trip.

This has been a crazy week so far. Ethan is improving so we were able to get together for a playdate yesterday and then we had playgroup at our house for a gift exchange. Ethan was so happy to see his friends after a week and half being apart from them. They had fun with their presents. Ethan loves puzzles and got a new Thomas one. He has one he got for his birthday that he does at least once every day since he got it. Now we have two Thomas puzzles to do everyday:) We are spending Christmas in the big town of Sebring. I have a bit of cooking to do over the weekend to prepare what I’m bringing. I was starting to stress out because I had planned to cook all day Saturday and then George was thinking he would have to work, still not sure if he will have to. If he does, not sure that I will be able to contribute much to the h0liday meal. We’re leaving a day or so after Christmas to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Ethan is staying with his grandparents and we’re flying to Asheville to stay at the Biltmore. Can’t wait. I plan on sleeping past 6am, reading a book, maybe seeing a movie. Oh the little things in life that were once taken for granted…

So after nine days of Ethan having a cold, we went to the doctor’s. Turns out it is just a cold, albeit a vicious one. I don’t know how someone so little can produce so much snot. She gave him something to help dry it up so hopefully he will be better soon. Thankfully he stopped being contagious about a week ago. We are getting bored and he keeps asking about his friends.

Ethan has been sick with a cold all week so we haven’t done our normal activities. It has felt like the longest week. Believe it or not, I am tired of going to the mall. His internal clock now gets him up at 6am, if not before, he takes no nap, and has been cranky all week. I’m so glad we made it to the end, at least George is home this weekend. Yesterday during mandatory rest time, he pulled a chair up to his bookcase, reached up almost to the top shelf and pulled down all his art supplies. He found a white board marker and marked all over himself, the carpet, the walls, his toys, train table, etc. When rest time was over and I came to get him, I said, “Oh.” Ethan said, “Oh Bugger, what are you doing, making a mess.” (I call him Bugger Boo sometimes as a nickname).

Well we had our annual party. We dropped Ethan off Fri. night to stay with his grandparents. I cried all the way home. It was so nice to have all day Saturday to get ready for the party. I slept in til 6:30! I even had time to wrap presents while watching Christmas made for tv movies on the Hallmark channel. Our party was great, lots of fun as usual. It felt less stressful because we catered it this time-definitely the way to go. Our white elephant game was fun as usual and I ended up with my favorite-Starbucks! I went Sunday after to church to the inlaws and found that Ethan was sick with a cold. He kept me up most of Sunday night then we came home yesterday.

This weekend is our annual Christmas party. It seems like we have been very behind in getting ready for it. We just put up our tree but there are no ornaments on it yet. We invited 70 people but apparently most people have a work party that day. Ethan will be going to stay the night at grandma’s house. So this will be a busy week.

We went to a holiday lights festival last night where they made snow for the kids to play in. Here’s Ethan with his “snowball.” Posted by Picasa
