Ethan continues to get up in the middle of the night, 1am or so. Sometimes it appears to be from a night terror, other times after a dream. I guess we’ll just have to get used to it. He continues to progress slowly with the potty thing. A few times I have wondered if he was still too immature for it (especially after he pees every 20minutes which makes for no success in keeping dry) and then he’ll suprise me by telling me he has to go (which rarely happens) or he’ll stay drier than usual. Today I took him to my allergist. After having an ear infection followed by a sinus infection over the holidays, I was tired of the constant sickness and scheduled an appointment with my allergist. She diagnosed him with asthma and allergies (along with the eczema I already knew he had) and will test him for specific allergies in two weeks. She gave him a nasal spray to add to his list of meds. This about it for him. I started volunteering with the senior high youth at church, should be a good experience. That’s it for now.

The blogger people updated their stuff and so they changed some things. I wasn’t able to upload pictures the same way I previously had so photos from Christmas were delayed in being posted. The only reason photos have ever been posted on my blog is that I accidently discovered how to do it. I hoped to make that happen again, but I couldn’t. George was kind enough to show me how today.

George has been crazy busy with the final preparations to the new office and they are finally moving in this weekend. I hope that works slows down for him now. I somehow got food poisoning this week and tried calling him at work to have him come home, but his cell phone doesn’t work in his new office. Thankfully those things only last a day. Ethan has been interested in trying the potty again. It’s slow going but he is trying. We’ve gotten back into our normal routine since the holidays so we are pretty busy. The guys have started on the pool again after taking a lengthy break and have been putting on the tile. It’s been a hot winter that we could have been using it all along:)

Well I don’t have an infection. That’s good, guess I’ll just have to live with the congestion. I’m always reading about sleeping disorders and today when I was in the library I read that giving a child their vitamins before bedtime can cause increase in metabolism which can cause them to wake up during the night. It can also cause nightmares. Could this really be? I will surely have to bang my head against the wall if this is the cause of all my angst.

Today I went for a CT scan of my sinuses. My doctor thinks the sinus infection I had in August never went away. I went to see the allergist for my biannual checkup to see how my allergy shots were going. I had gotten used to being congested for a while now but I guess I should have gone to see her before now. Oh well. More medication… Ethan finally got out of waking up before the sun. He was doing it since the time change. It didn’t matter what time he went to bed, his internal alarm got him up at 6am or before. During Christmas when he had a sinus infection, he was up all night coughing and I think he was so tired that he finally slept past the 6am mark and has been doing it ever since. And he is finally sleeping 12 hours at night (which he should have been doing all along since he isn’t napping anymore). The drawback to all of this is that now for some reason, he wakes up between 1 and 2 everynight. Sometimes he is wide awake and takes a while to go back to sleep. Of course this means I can’t sleep either because once something wakes me up, I am awake for the next hour at least. My prayer this new year is that I require less sleep.

Our trip to Asheville was great. It was perfect weather, cold and sunny. The view from our room at the Inn at the Biltmore was beautiful. The property they have is just amazing. We enjoyed our candlelit tour of the mansion as well as a back stage rooftop tour. The food and wine are excellent as well. There is so much to do on the grounds there, we could have spent several more days there. There’s also tons for kids to do as well. We called Ethan once a day but he apparently could have cared less that we weren’t there. When we returned to pick him up I think he temporarily forgot who we were. For about 15 min. he clung to grandma and didn’t want anything to do with us.
